New Delhi, India
From Congress-ruled Kerala, Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh and Telangana to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-ruled Punjab, chief ministers from various political parties attended the NITI Aayog meeting. The meeting took place with the strongest ever representation of the NDA, with leadership from all states ensuring participation. Especially the presence of Karnataka’s new Chief Minister DK Shivakumar made this meeting even more important.
DK Shivakumar’s presence marked a significant change in the political direction of Karnataka, as earlier the previous Congress government had boycotted NITI Aayog meetings. Their participation has ushered in a new era in the state’s approach, which gives priority to dialogue and cooperation.
In the meeting, Chief Ministers of all the states discussed a wide range of topics including economic growth, social welfare, infrastructure development and coordination of national policies. This meeting of NITI Aayog proved to be a platform to establish better coordination between the Center and the States.
Notably, in this meeting held in New Delhi, all the Chief Ministers, cutting across political differences, joined the national agenda of NITI. This clearly shows that all the parties want to work together for the development of the country. The participation of DK Shivakumar further strengthened this sentiment, raising hopes for cooperation and better policy making among the states.
This historic meeting showed that despite the diversities in Indian politics, when it comes to cooperation between ministries and states, all parties together can move forward in a positive direction. This has not only strengthened the NITI Aayog but also strengthened the possibilities of better governance in the states.
After this meeting, it is clear that the process of communication between the states and the central government will be further strengthened, which will enable better coordination of national development plans. Its effects will be seen even more clearly in the coming months.
