New Delhi, India – After a six decade long war against Naxalism, the Government of India has declared the country Naxal free. This achievement is an important milestone in the journey of the Naxalbari movement from its beginning till today, which is being considered a major success for the internal security structure of the country.
This movement, which started in Naxalbari, West Bengal in 1967, has its roots in the Maoist ideology and the concept of armed revolution. Initially, different militant groups were active in different regions, which later united in 2004 to form the Communist Party of India (Maoist). This organization had become one of the most serious internal security challenges of India.
The statement issued by the government said that Naxalism has been rooted out due to the continuous alertness, activeness of the security forces and the cooperation of the public. Earlier, development work in Naxal affected areas had stopped and the lives of the villagers there had been seriously affected. Now, not only development work has resumed in these areas, but the people there are also getting better security and opportunities.
According to experts, this success against Naxalism is not only the result of the hard work of the security forces, but is also the result of social and economic reforms. Education, health and infrastructure development and providing people access to a justice-based system are considered to be the main reasons for this success.
The government has also said that it will remain alert to prevent any such attempts in future and will work with the local people to promote peace and prosperity. This historical milestone is being considered as a positive sign for the unity, integrity and prosperity of the country.
