Chandigarh, Punjab: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the Badal family and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) of playing politics over the video controversy at Akal Takht. Senior leaders of the party have claimed that this controversy is an attempt to fuel political gains, thereby insulting the religious institution.
Aam Aadmi Party spokesperson said that politicization of a holy place like Akal Takht is absolutely wrong and it should not be used to serve party-specific interests. He said that the sentiments of the entire community should be respected in this matter and should not be provoked.
The controversy started when some video clips went viral on social media in which inappropriate comments were allegedly made in relation to the Akal Takht. The Badal family and SAD accused the opposition parties of inciting religious sentiments and creating a rift in the community. However, the Aam Aadmi Party completely rejected this allegation and said that it is part of a conspiracy.
Experts believe that religious institutions have been being used in Punjab politics for political gains for the last several decades. In such a situation, this dispute needs to be handled with sensitivity to maintain peace and harmony. The religious leadership should not worsen the situation further and give proper guidance to the young generation.
In the last few years, the controversy regarding Akal Takht and other religious institutions is increasing in the politics of Punjab. This time, this clash between Aam Aadmi Party and SAD also presents a new challenge, especially in view of the upcoming elections. Political parties are expected to respect religious sentiments and not politicize such situations.
Ultimately, every member of the community wants that the dignity of religious institutions should be maintained and that no controversy should weaken them. It is in everyone’s interest to take this matter to a peaceful resolution as soon as possible.
